Pixar & Apple TV+ Introduce “Win or Lose” and “Goldie,” Teaching Meaningful Life Lessons for Kids

Animated storytelling has long been a powerful tool for teaching young audiences about life’s biggest lessons, blending entertainment with emotional depth. Pixar and Apple TV+ are continuing this tradition with two new animated series, Win or Lose and Goldie, each offering unique perspectives on personal growth, resilience, and belonging. Both series promise to deliver heartwarming, thought-provoking narratives that resonate with audiences of all ages.

 Win or Lose

Win or Lose' Review: Pixar's Animated Softball Story on Disney+

Pixar Animation Studios’ first-ever original series, “Win or Lose”, presents an effortless narrative structure, intertwining the perspectives of eight different characters as they prepare for their championship softball game. Each 24-minute episode shifts focus to a new character, exploring their personal experiences, emotions, and motivations in the lead-up to the big event. The series examines the universal themes of competition, teamwork, validation, and the complex psychology of winning and losing. The pressures of athletic performance and the pursuit of perfection are central to the series and highlight the toxicity of sports culture, where terms like “loser” and fear-based motivation tactics contribute to anxiety, depression, and unresolved trauma. The show is fairly simple yet the lighthearted animation with deeply human struggles sets Win or Lose apart as a nice watch for young audiences. With a hazy, semi-realistic animation style that blurs the line between grounded realism and animated storytelling, Win or Lose immerses viewers in the emotional weight of sports culture. You can watch Win or Lose on Disney+.

GOLDIE

Apple TV+ announces “Goldie,” an all-new animated series for kids and families - Apple TV+ Press

Apple TV+’s Goldie is a vibrant and heartfelt animated series that explores themes of belonging, identity, and acceptance. With 26-minute-long episodes released in pairs, the show follows Goldie, a giant girl navigating life in the whimsical, candy-colored world of Boysenberg—a place where everyone is different yet embraced as part of the family. The series leans into the concept of “Gotcha Day,” highlighting adoption and the journey of finding a true home. Goldie’s story is shared with a diverse cast of characters, including a young boy in a wheelchair, and teeny, a young girl who tries to grow taller, emphasizing that differences are to be celebrated rather than feared. Through catchy musical numbers like the show’s theme song—“Giant heart, giant girl, doesn’t matter who you are, everybody’s welcome here”—Goldie reinforces its message of inclusivity. The series delivers profound yet accessible life lessons, as reflected in Goldie’s declaration: “I know I’m a little different, but that doesn’t mean you have to treat me differently. You’ll see that I’m not a monster. And actually, I’m quite friendly.” With its uplifting storytelling and dazzling visuals, Goldie is intended to be a meaningful and engaging addition to children’s animation. You can watch Goldie on Appletv+
